I have decided not to include my detailed writing on the two other churches. You can see the pictures below, but my article was turning out too personal. And while I am an open book…there are reasons why people don’t speak about religion and politics. Folks get fired up…I am not afraid to share my opinions; I just would like to keep the friends that I have and engage in real religious/spiritual conversations face to face.
Along the lines of spirituallity….I am desperately seeking a really good Bible study. The only Bible studies I have ever really connected with have been by Beth Moore. She is a great communicator and passionate scholar. I gave some internet research to Lutheran Minister’s wife and she said we could do one of Beth’s studies in February. I would like to do one now. I don’t have reliable internet access, so I can’t get on line to do her studies. I also can’t afford to buy $200 worth of DVD’s, so if anyone out there has any ideas, I am eager to study the Word.

How to Study the Bible

Choose a book you want to study and study during your freshest time
The first week study 5 minutes per day
The second week study 10 minutes per day
The third week study 15 minutes per day and so on…
Read the book at least sixteen times in four different translations
Circle words in color that you don't understand
Include at least one translation in KJV
Include at least one paraphrase
Choose your own theme for the book
Make sure the theme is the explanation of the book
Each chapter should have a theme that fits the main theme
Rewrite the book in your own words by rewriting the sections of each chapter
Make sure you have a good dictionary
Make sure you have an understanding of every word in every verse
Make sure you have no commentaries or other Bible helps
Ask the scriptures the following questions
Who (character study)
What, When, Where, Why
Whatever (now that I know this truth how do I implement it?)
Notes:
Take notes during the study in a notebook
Plan a devotional as a separate activity and at a different time than the study
Listen: God wants to say something new to you
Objective: Get to know God
